Fontainebleau: a name that is famous in the entire world, a magical name that evokes for some a forest, for others a château, a name which still shines from its royal history.
The Chateau of Vaux le Vicomte, represents the crystallization of the French baroque château and was the model for the Palace of Versailles. The château and gardens are laid out today as they were for Fouquet's celebrated fête on 17th August 1661. On this immortal and fateful night in which Fouquet's glory shone the brightest ever, and his darkest despair began. Louis XIV resolved on this night, with the assistance of those same artists whom Fouquet had selected for Vaux, to create residences of still greater splendor. Foremost of all this was to be Versailles, yet he didn't succeed in ever surpassing the splendor, magnificence and sublime beauty of Vaux-le-Vicomte. Barbizon: it was among these landscapes too that, last century, the great Parisian bourgeoisie came for country stays by the forest on the shores of the Seine and the Loing, whilst young painters settled into the neighboring villages. They had left the capital and the studios of the official school to come and paint in the midst of nature, with their easels among trees and rocks, facing the plain of Brière's landscapes. And in the evening, they would return to Barbizon at father Ganne's, to Bourron Marlotte or Morêt-sur-Loing. The pictorial adventure of Barbizon and of the first impressionists such as Corot and Sisley were to open the road to a long line of artists, musicians and writers throughout the century, from Alfred de Musset to Cocteau, from Picasso to Cézanne or from Rosa Bonheur to Lalanne. Restaurant: L'angelus: From the luxurious frame to the service, everything is thought out so that your lunch is the most comfortable possible. This auberge is located in the main street of the Barbizon village. Auberge de GANNE: The famous Auberge de Ganne, the inn of Barbizon Artists, has welcome famous painters such as Millet and Corot. Created by the Ganne family, this inn was the place were the majority of artists, working in the Fontainebleau forest from 1830 to 1870, used to go. The inn has been refurbished in its authentic décor with its walls and furniture painted by the artists and its collection of the Barbizon school works, which gives an idea of the landscapers favorite patterns. After the Auberge de Ganne's visit, a walk in the village is in order to discover the art galleries and antique dealers. Golf of Fontainebleau: ranked amid the top 10 courses in Continental Europe, in the heart of the Fontainebleau forest, famous for its sand stone rocks. The tour does not include
