Anyone who has spent more than a day in Paris knows the amount of walking involved, but touring by Vespa lets your feet stay happy and, you are out amongst the bustle of Parisian life, instead of underground in the metro.

Tour / Activity Description

Important

  • To drive a 50cc Vespa, you will need to be over 18 years or age and hold a valid automobile driver's license.
  • To drive a 125cc Vespa, you will need to be over 20 years of age and have held a motorcycle license for at least 2 years. A French law started January 2011 provides that you cannot drive a 125cc scooter without a motorcycle license.
  • To be a passenger on a Vespa, the minimum age is 12.
  • The person in whose name the tour is ordered must present a major credit card (Visa or MasterCard) in their name on the day of the tour for authorization to cover the insurance deductible. The amount of the deductible will be taken as a hold (not charged) on the credit card. The hold will be removed once the Vespa is returned in its pre-tour condition.
  • Your outfitter is not licensed to, and does not provide, scooter riding lessons.

Itinerary

Below is an itinerary of where you can expect to visit during your tour, though it is not the exact route to be taken and your guides are always happy to include specific stops of interest, based on available time. The tour will drive past the Champs Elysees, Grand and Petite Palais, Pont Alexandre III, Musee l'Armee, Invalides, Ecole Militaire, Eiffel Tower, and Champs de Mars. Other sights included are Pont Mirabeau, Paris Statue of Liberty, Pont Bir Heiken, rue Cler, Les Deux Margots and the oldest church in Paris.

There are a number of options for additional touring and stops. For instance, the tour can explore the quaint alleyways of St. Germain-de-Pres and up into the Latin Quartier, Sorbonne, Patheon, hill of St. Genevieve and one of the oldest market streets in France, St. Michel, Ile de Cite to see the Notre Dame, Ile St. Louis, Hotel de Ville, rue Rivoli, Lourve, Opera Garnier, Madeline, St. Honore, Vendome, and Tulleries.

OR...you might want to travel to the far north of Paris - past the Moulin Rouge, Abbesses, house of Vincent Van Gogh, winding up the cobblestone steets of Montmartre, past the local artistes market of Place de Terre, arriving at the church of Sacre Ceour with its many street performers and incredible view over Paris.

These tours often move on to the Concorde to see the Obelisk and one of the the oldest hotels in the world. To finish up, the tour continues up the Champs Elysses, down the boutique shopping streets of Ave. Montaigne and George V, around the Arc de Triomph, and finishes back at your original Paris pick-up location (hotel or train station).

Vespa Scooters

Both the 50cc and 125cc Vespas are the exact same size, and are large enough for 2 people to ride together. The 125cc has the larger engine and is heavier.

Pricing Options

Prices include your guide, use of the Vespa, 2 helmets, fuel, insurance, gloves and wet gear, plus start and finish from your hotel.

The Vespas seat two people and there are different rates for a single driver only and for a driver with a passenger riding in a sidecar. Each Vespa must have a driver.

Should your party be an odd number of persons and the extra person only wants to be a passenger, they may ride behind the guide for the passenger rate.

Included with each Vespa is a helmet (required by law) and a U-lock with chain. Helmets are the Vespa Grandtrismo scooter model. They are all relatively new and are cleaned and de-odorized regularly.

You have the option of paying the Upgrade fee and keeping the Vespa for touring on-your-own for 24 hours after the tour concludes. At the end of the 24 hours rental period, we will pick up the Vespa from your Paris hotel.

Helmet Sizes

Each driver and passenger must wear a helmet, which will be provided. You will be asked on the Order Form to provide helmet sizes for each member of your party. Here are sizing guidelines for the various helmet sizes:

  • Small- 21.4 inches or 54 centimeters to 22.4 inches or 56 centimeters
  • Medium - 22.4 inches or 56 centimeters to 23.1 inches or 58 centimeters
  • Large - 23.1 inches or 58 centimeters to 23.9 inches or 60 centimeters
  • Extra Large - 23.9 inches or 60 centimeters to 24.7 inches or 62 centimeters

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a international driver's license? -- There is no requirement to hold an international driver's license to drive one of the Vespas. You do need to hold a valid license from your home jurisdiction.

Will you meet me at a Paris train station? -- Yes, complimentary delivery and collection may be arranged from any of the major train stations in Paris.

Is there complimentary delivery to and collection from CDG airport or any suburban areas of Paris? --- No, but delivery to and collection from CDG airport and some suburban areas of Paris may be arranged for a fee to cover additional travel time. To make such arrangements, a phone number will be provided on your E-Ticket.

Can we request a specific color Vespa? -- Unfortunately we are unable to guarantee specific colors.

Is it difficult to find parking in Paris? -- No, Paris has plenty of specific scooter parking all over the city. At most of the monuments, it is directly in front...so very convenient. Though you will see many scooters parked on the sidewalks, we do not recommend doing this as it is a parking violation and you may get a ticket.

Is it safe to park the scooter overnight? -- Yes. Most parts of Paris are safe, and we supply you with a U-bolt lock and chain for security against theft. The U-bolt lock will go through the wheel and the chain can be used to attach the scooter to a pole.

What if it rains on the day of our tour? --- The tour will be postponed and moved to a different day. If you are unable to do the tour of a different day you will be refunded.
